Accepting these terms

You accept these terms by tapping “Accept and continue” when you first open the app. If you do not agree, do not use the app. How we handle your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy, which is information for you and not something you accept.

The service

Vinci Brain is an educational general-knowledge app: quizzes with explanations and anecdotes, reviews of the questions you missed, and a daily session. A free version is available. Premium unlocks additional features, described in the app before purchase.

Age

You must be 14 or older to use Vinci Brain. The app checks it with a neutral age question, and with the age range provided by your store where the store offers one. Your age is not stored. If you are under the age of majority where you live, ask a parent or guardian before buying Premium.

Your account

• You can use the app as a guest (anonymous account) or with a registered account. Both can export and delete their data in Settings.
• Keep access to your account secure. You are responsible for what is done with it.
• We may suspend or close an account used to break these terms or the law, for example to attack the service or copy its content. Except in an emergency, we tell you why first by email when we have your address.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the app lawfully, not to try to bypass its security or its limits, and not to copy, extract or redistribute its content.

Premium

Premium is sold as a subscription (monthly or yearly) or as a one-time lifetime purchase. The App Store (Apple) or Google Play, depending on your device, handles the payment at the price shown before you confirm. Prices can vary by country and include the taxes the store applies.

Subscriptions

• A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price then in force, until you cancel it.
• App Store: renewal is charged within the 24 hours before the end of the period. To avoid it, turn off automatic renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the period, in your Apple account settings.
• Google Play: you can cancel at any time before the renewal date, in the Google Play app (Payments and subscriptions).
• After cancelling, Premium stays active until the end of the period already paid.
• Deleting your Vinci Brain account or the app does not cancel a subscription: only the store can.
• A price increase is announced by the store, which asks for your agreement when its rules require it.

Free trial

• A free trial may be offered to new subscribers. The store shows its length and conditions before you confirm.
• If you do not cancel before the trial ends, it becomes a paid subscription (on the App Store, cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the trial).

Lifetime

• “Lifetime” means a single payment, with no renewal, that gives Premium for as long as Vinci Brain is offered and your account exists.
• It is tied to the Vinci Brain account used to buy it, and available on any device where you sign in to that account.
• It ends when you delete that account. Restoring it on a new account is not guaranteed.
• If we ever stop offering Vinci Brain, we will announce it in the app, and by email when we have your address, at least 60 days before. Your mandatory consumer rights remain.

Refunds

• Refunds are handled by the store that sold the purchase, under its own policy: Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play (Payments and subscriptions in the Google Play app). Contact us if you need help.
• In the European Union and the United Kingdom, the right of withdrawal from a digital purchase is handled by the store, under the conditions it shows you when you buy.
• Nothing in these terms limits the rights that the consumer law of your country gives you.

On Apple devices

If you downloaded Vinci Brain from the App Store, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/).

Content and intellectual property

All Vinci Brain content (questions, explanations, anecdotes, illustrations) is protected by copyright. You may use it for your personal, non-commercial learning.

We research and review our content with care. Vinci Brain is a learning game, not a professional reference: if you find an error, tell us at [email protected] and we will correct it.

Liability

We are responsible for providing the app as described in these terms. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits a liability or a guarantee that the law of your country does not allow us to exclude or limit.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete my account). We can end the agreement if you seriously break these terms, as described in “Your account”.

Changes to these terms

We do not change these terms on our own. If we want to change them, the app shows you the new version, with what changes, and asks you to accept it. The new version applies to you only once you accept it. If you do not accept it, you can stop using the app, delete your account and cancel your subscription at no cost. If you bought Lifetime, you keep Premium under the version you accepted. We never charge you again for a purchase you already made, and never take Premium away from it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the laws of Canada that apply there. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence and can go to the courts it allows.
